What exactly is Botox®?
Botox® is a toxin that temporarily weakens the muscles that gather your skin into folds, making it crease-proof enough to prevent wrinkles becoming established. A doctor can pinpoint which muscles to weaken. When injected, it attaches itself to the target muscle. Once it wears off, normally after about four months, the muscles regenerate and regain enough strength to start creasing up your skin again.
Are the treatments safe?
There are literally hundreds of studies showing that it is perfectly safe as long as it is used in the recommended amounts. We only use a tiny amount to treat wrinkles.
Does Botox hurt?
No! We use very small, tiny even, needles to administer the anti-wrinkle injections. And our doctors are experts at what they do, often the treatment is over and done with before the patient knows it. We are that good at what we do! See our blog post on Botox treatments for more information.
How long does Botox last?
Typically Botox lasts about 3-4 months. Anyone who tells you anything otherwise is misleading you. But you should get a full 3 months out of it. If you don’t then the Botox is being underdosed or over diluted as a cost cutting measure. Don’t accept bad quality cheap Botox, just because it seems to be the best price Botox. You get what you pay for. We here at Visage Clinic offer high quality Botox treatments, at some of the best prices for Botox treatments that you can find in Cork.

What is a Dermal Filler?
Dermal Fillers are made of a substance called Hyaluronic Acid ( HA) , this is a naturally compound found within the human body. The main use of dermal fillers is for restoration of facial volume. The aging process is effectively volume loss. Dermal fillers are an injectable treatment that is relatively pain free. The results of dermal fillers are volume dependent, typically one tube of filler has a 1ml volume. Dermal Filler treatments are subtle yet effective ways to restore, rejuvenate and revitalise a face that has undergone loss of volume. The results typically last for nine to twelve months, this time period varies as your body reabsorbs the product over time. At Visage Clinic our dermal filler treatments are as unique and individual as you are, the treatment is bespoke and tailored around the specifics of your facial anatomy.
How do Dermal Fillers work?
Dermal Fillers work in two main ways. Firstly the product has a gel like consistency, the product is skilfully injected between two tissue layers thus having a mechanical action and raising the tissue that has experienced volume loss. Secondly, dermal fillers are made of a substance call hyaluronic acid. HA helps to make collagen, this provides structure ,firmness and support to tissues. The HA in the dermal filler stimulates local tissue to increase collagen production ,resulting in an increase in volume. Dermal Fillers are a safe, trusted and established treatment for facial volume loss.
Can i get a bruise from Dermal Fillers?
The answer to this question is yes. Approximately one in every thirty patients will develop a bruise from a dermal filler treatment. Every precaution is taken to avoid this including our minimally traumatic techniques and our use of ultra fine micro needles. If you do get a bruise then it may take five to seven days to completely resolve. After a period of twenty four hours make up can be applied to the area. At Visage Clinic all patients undergoing dermal filler treatments receive a tailored post treatment advice sheet out lining the specifics for their post treatment after care.
1. How white will my teeth go at the end of the treatment?
This depends on the mineral content contained within your teeth and results can therefore vary between individuals. Mineral content depletes with age and mineral content can also be affected by Tetracycline (antibiotics which you may have taken as a child). Clients with Tetracycline or Fluorosis such as blotches or spots may have less dramatic whitening results.
Generally speaking, we will get your teeth to as white as they were when you were a teenager (sometimes whiter). Some people prefer not to have this level of whiteness, and should request prior to a procedure not to have their teeth whitened too dramatically.
With our system will get your teeth to as white as they will naturally go( antibiotic or fluorosis damage see less dramatic results)
2. How soon will I see results?
Immediately! There is no waiting around for 2 or 3 weeks to see the results. As soon as you are finished with your laser teeth whitening treatment, you will look in the mirror (usually with great surprise). If we do not whiten your teeth a minimum of 4 shades, you will not be charged for the procedure.
3. Is the treatment painful?
100% zero sensitivity is guaranteed. All our gels have full toxicology and safety reports and are fully EU compliant, as well as the machines full CE approved and filter out all UV and IR light so works on a cold blue light system so no drying out of the teeth which may also cause sensitivity issue, like some heat lamps on the market today. This is because the gel we use helps to open up thousands of tiny ‘tunnels’ in your enamel, which in turn allows the dentine to be penetrated (the dentine is what controls the colour of each tooth).
4. Are the results permanent?
Results will last for 6 to 12 months and sometimes longer, many clinics will tell you that results will last for three years or more, but this simply is not true. Teeth will always stain due to diet, lifestyle and aging. But if you use a take home kit your teeth should remain at their maximum for up to 2 years.
5. Does teeth whitening harm my teeth?
No! The effect on teeth is no different to the effect from commonly ingested foods or regular dental procedures.
6. Will the gel whiten crowns, veneers or false teeth?
The teeth whitening process will only remove intrinsic staining from natural teeth. However, the gel will help remove all extrinsic staining from teeth, including false teeth. This means that your false teeth will be ‘cleaned’ back to their original colour.
If you are planning to have a crown, bridge, filling or false tooth, it is recommended that you first have your teeth whitened. Your dentist will then be able to match the shade of the false tooth to your new colour.
7. Is teeth whitening classified as dentistry?
In 2012 31st October 1 EU law was changed to class teeth whitening as a cosmetic procedure, meaning that a qualified technician can carry out the treatment. This is why you may see many beauty salons offering the service at very low prices, often with far inferior products.
8. How long does the treatment take?
Treatment takes one hour including same day consultation. You are usually in and out of the clinic after your consultation and treatment in 1 hr and 15-20 min.
